Can a travel agent get a better deal on a cruise than the internet sites?

I’ve found a specific cruise that I want and every single “discount” travel website offers the same exact fare $549.00 as the actual cruise ships website. This seems as though the discount websites aren’t discounts at all. So my question is, can I get a better price than carnival has on their site by going to a brick and mortar travel agent?
Also, we plan to cruise at the end of June or early July of 07

If you’ve taken a cruise with Carnival, how was your experience?

Chencia asked:

I’m planning to go on a cruise to the Bahamas next fall(2009) with a group of friends and we were looking at the Carnival cruise line. I recently heard from a few people that Carnival isn’t worth the money and that I should go with Royal Caribbean instead. But I remember seeing something a few years back about several women getting drugged and ***** on Royal Caribbean cruise ships.

What are some of your experiences and do you have any suggestions?

What do the cabin symbols mean when travelling Norwegian Cruise Lines?

crystalz_ca asked:

When I bring up a map of the Norwegian Jade all the cabins have some sort of symbol in them, triangles etc. I know, in general, the symbols mean quad room, obstructed view etc. But with Norwegian Cruise Lines what do the symbols mean? I have found no help on the various travel sites nor from the cruise ship site itself.

How do you start a cruise industry?

Yes, I know that this is a crazy question, but in 7-12 years, I will be planning on owning a cruise industry, or buy out royal caribbean. Do you have any suggestion from going to Nordic Empress to Indepence of the Seas in less than 40 years? Any information would be nice. Also, I would only like REAL answers.

Thank-you

What’s the best way to find cruise specials?

IamBatman asked:

Hey there, I’m planning on taking a cruise with my best friend this summer, and have no idea how to go about finding the best deal. I know that it is good to wait until like, a month before to jump on a special, but I don’t know any of the details, the websites, etc. We are in Canada and would like to go someplace warm and sunny, possibly the Caribbean. Please help!
