I would rather do the Eastern Caribbean. I prefer this because I live in Florida, and I can get to three ports in less than two hours.

The E. Caribbean is so much better for swimming, snorkeling etc. The Riviera is a much colder section of water and rougher too depending on the time of year you are going.

They are similar, but Id have to say the carribean is a little warmer and the water appears bluer (sp?). I’d base it on which airfare is cheapest. If you live near the west coast, the mexican riviera will be the most economical, whereas if you live on the east coast the carribean is probably cheaper.

I live/work on cruise ships and I would definitely say the eastern caribbean run. So much more to see and nicer ports. Plus being the caribbean, its much warmer weather.

We went to Riviera Maya for vacation, then last Feb., went on an eastern Caribbean cruise. We enjoyed both vacations alot. Caribbean was very nice. We didnt snorkel or do many excursions on the caribbean vacation, we enjoyed visiting the islands. Riviera Maya we snorkeled. It was pretty awesome. I suppose if I had to pick it over, which vacation to take, I would take the caribbean. We went to Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas. The water was absolutely beautiful!! Blue water compared to Riviera Maya.
Have fun….I think either vacation you pick would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
