Does immigration ask you for a passport when traveling in a cruise to Canada?

I will take a cruise from Seatle to Alaska round trip. On the way back the ship will stop at Victoria (Canada) for 5 hours. I am not planning on walking out of the ship, but still I dont know if they will ask me or not for any type of document. I am a resident alien and have a residency card (green card) but I dont have a passport from my country. I want to make sure I will not get in trouble for not taking a document (for example a passport) If any body knows anything about this kind of situation please let me know.

I believe you need a passport to even take the cruise. Silly law I know , but that law was supposed to take effect last year.

If you don’t step off the ship you don’t need a visa. however if you are asked you must provide identification drivers license and birth certificate were generally accepted however i believe a passport is required.
