wait till you get on the ship, then ask at the desk, most water excursions are best, but do spend some time just shopping, you can get some really good prices on many items. Your ship will also have a program prior to your shore arrival,go to it and learn from the staff on ship about the shopping and excursions, good luck and have FUN!

You can either do ship-sponsored excursions or go on your own in the ports. Some ports are easier/safer than others.
If you go on your own, the biggest thing to remember is to get back to the ship on time - they will not wait if you’re late unless you’re on one of their excursions. Going on your own will save money and give you a less herd-like experience. But a ship’s excursion will take care of all the details for you. It depends on what you’re more comfortable with.
I’ve never been to the Mexican Riviera. But you can get great, reliable info from people who have at CruiseCritic.com. Click on Boards, then go to Ports of Call and find your port.
Have fun!

i dislike shore excursions… i feel it’s better to just make your own… we like to walk when we get to port (it helps with losing all that food you eat). you didn’t say where your ports of call were… you can walk most anywhere and see things that you won’t see going on a group tour…

u should wait till u get there because you can do the same excusions for half the price on the land… but if u are going to puetro Valerata then don’t go on the pirate ship….. it is long and in the sun and it’s on an actually pirate boat and you will get sea sick….

Some tours are a rip off. Say you purchase something from an outdoor vendor just before you get back on the tour bus. Well the item you purchased was OK but, the last picture you take say beside and outdoor statue might be charged to you and the bus won’t leave until you pay cash to the group that decided they would charge for the entertainment . Don’t drink the water, only bottled beer,Tecante
